CARES for Parents

You Are Not Alone

If you’re the parent of a child battling substance use, you already know the emotional toll it takes. You may feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and unsure of what steps to take next. You may even feel isolated in your struggle—but you’re not alone.

CARES is here for you.

We are a volunteer-led community built for caregivers and relatives of those struggling with addiction, offering healing, education, and support. Each week, we gather to give caregivers the tools, knowledge, and sense of community they need to keep going.

Parent Burnout & Personal Care

Experiencing burnout is a frequent challenge for parents who take on the demanding role of caregivers for children who are battling substance abuse issues. The stress and emotional toll can be overwhelming, leaving parents feeling exhausted and lost. To address this critical need, CARES offers a variety of resources designed specifically for parents in these difficult situations. These resources aim to empower parents to regain a sense of control over their lives. CARES emphasizes the importance of self-care by providing educational materials, support groups, and coping strategies, enabling parents to prioritize their well-being while navigating the complexities of their child’s recovery journey.

Join Us

We are excited to introduce the Cornerstone CARES speaker series, a collaborative initiative with The Texas CARES Program and the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin. Starting at Cornerstone Church ATX, our series aims to reach communities across the nation, creating a supportive environment for families affected by addiction. Through these sessions, we will share personal stories, expert insights, and evidence-based strategies to assist individuals and families on their journey to recovery. Join us in building a compassionate community dedicated to healing and hope.

You don’t have to have all the answers. You just have to show up.

The overarching mission of CARES is to create an environment where “those who love and protect can feel love and protection.” Each gathering is a step towards helping caregivers find clarity and confidence in their roles, equipping them with the knowledge to navigate the recovery landscape without the burden of doubt.
