René Gaitan, LCSW-S is licensed clinical social worker and board approved supervisor who has 20 years of experience provided direct therapeutic support for children and families managing conflict, trauma, and addiction. Rene’s experience includes services through private alcohol and substance misuse detox and recovery programs, case management in government funded outpatient mental and behavioral health clinics, and management and director leadership roles in non-profit services. As a Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, Rene holds positions with both the Steve Hicks School of Social Work and the Law School. In addition to work in the United States Rene has lead trainings through International Conferences in Mexico and accelerated graduate courses in Santiago, Chile. As a lifelong Christian, Rene has worked throughout his career to support alcohol and substance recovery programs centered on best practices for community and family network building. As a family member and caregiver with direct experience with family addiction, it is an honor, priviledge, and blessing to serve in the Texas CARES Program.
