Laura Swann

Not Mine to Hold: Releasing Generational Shame in Addicted Families

Laura has been working in the Substance Use Dependency field for over 38 years. She holds an MEd., and is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. Laura currently has a private counseling practice and works as a consultant to various treatment and recovery centers. She was a long time Adjunct Professor at The University of Texas Steve Hicks School of Social Work and The Seminary of the Southwest Theological Counseling Program. She believes in the power of community to help people heal from the challenges of substance use dependence. Laura’s most exciting endeavor is the recent release of her book, Men and Emotions . . . It’s a Thing. Her book addresses many facets of emotional sobriety, a challenge that most individuals experience.
