Mateo Vallejo is a Spring 2026 MSSW Generalist CARES Program Practicum student with a strong academic and research background focused on addiction, family systems, and community-based support. He currently works as a research assistant with Dr. Fiona Conway at the University of Texas at Austin Addiction Research Institute, where his work contributes to a deeper understanding of substance use and recovery.
Mateo is the recipient of multiple honors and scholarships, including the Earl Maxwell, McNair, and Distinguished College Scholarships. His interests center on expanding access to education, strengthening family-centered care, and supporting communities impacted by addiction through research-informed and compassionate approaches.
